Greetings to all,

I am often asked about all of the years I have been Chief of my people. In August it will be 41 years. I have survived smear campaigns stemming from those who have had only their own self interests in mind. Still I endure. When I was younger ; I was bothred by this. Now as I look back at those times I can only smile. The things I did that I was ridiculed for, many now do. In those early days; If your tribal members were missing, NO ONE CARED! It was more for them. I started tribe rebuilding. This was ALLOWED under the Re-Orgainization Act of 1934. Yet, NO ONE DID! Now, nearly 40 years later, look how many tribes have been SAVED and resurrected by this method. There are AT LEAST 200 more tribes in existence then there were in 1974. Those that have critizized me (some STILL try to) have, in the last several years; have done nothing or very little to help their people or ANYONE elses people. I am very proud of all the accomplishments I have done over the years. I am proud because I didnt do it for ME! I was famous before I was Chief and I didnt need the glory. I certainly didn"t need the money in those days as well. I did it for the love of my people and for the other tribes I have tried to help as well. Even now, I have taken a case of tribal injustice to the State Supreme Court. I am and continue to be amazed at how LITTLE the states and yes, even the Federal government, KNOW THE LAW! It is not the job of OUR tribe or any other to educate the states on what is LEGAL and is not. OHIO will learn this soon enough. We are NOT an INVISABLE enity. Every time a different politician takes office; WE have to update them on what happened BEFORE they were in office. The governors and Attorney Generals offices continue to say " There is no Indian Titled Land in Ohio. " W R O N G !! There has been Indian titled land in Ohio since the early 70's. The Shawnee, URB in Urbana , Ohio, not only had land titled but were STATE RECOGNIZED with our help, way back in the eary 80's. Every year after that; Governor Celeste would send a letter congratulating them on their recognition. STILL, the next governor, and every one since says the same thing "NO Indian Land in Ohio!" Idiots! They need to do THEIR homework. Our SOVEREIGN land has been deeded since 1998. The BIA is no better. With a budget second only to the DEFENSE DEPT in size; it remains the most misinformed and corrupt branch of the Federal Government. Only Congress is worse. The BIA is NOT the Supreme decider of Tribes. Congress and the Supreme Court are . YET, everyone relies on them for information about Indian Tribes. Maybe I can educate THEM! Recently, I called them to ask them about a law that was passed in the late 90's. They told me: "We arent familar with any of the NEW court rulings since the late 70's, they were too far behind." REALLY? Just what ARE they doing with all of that money? Try buying law books! Truth is; I have challenged courts and jurisdictions for more then 40 years. They have NOTHING to dispute our Treaties or Federal rulings.NOTHING! Even the Removel Act of 1830; which led to the Trail of Tears which many of our brother and sisters parished and was deamed illegal by the US Supreme Court at the time, exempted US from leaving Ohio. The last paragraph states: "Nothing in this Act shall be construed to affect or INVALIDATE ANY tribe under Treaty. We were and STILL are under the Treaties of 1805, 1809, and especially 1813. NOTHING since the "Friendship Treaty of 1813-14" has changed. Treaties are NOT time sensitive. People can say what they want about me but what they cant say is that I am a Quitter!
